I have same problem. I didn’t have any upper or lower files lised in the registry. How do u prevent this from happening again…this is the 3rd time its happened in 3 months. It is completely random, but surprisingly low.

Hi, It may be a upper and lower limit problem. I eventually recovered my laptop and reinstalled all software. Have you found a solution or does anyone else have some input? Proposed as answer by gasstationman Sunday, December 14, It would freeze and keep spinning and would require manually rebooting. Mine is messing up too. Alternatively, you need to find the burn media type that is readable in this matahita, and use that exclusively. My understanding is that you need to uninstall the software, then delete the keys, and reinstall. Have you received any correction?
The latest update from MS was June 26th. My problems started when I checked enable cd recording on this drive in the recording folder of the properties of the drive.

The dvd player works fine but when I insert a cd it will not play. Did the registry thing.

Sorry, there was a problem flagging this post. Sunday, December 28, 9: Also, still shows Matsgita Code All of sudden the sound quality was very poor and playback was slow. I’m still trying to find a way of getting it back. And today i tried to install a game on my computer which did not work as well. I haven’t installed anything.
I went into Restore section anticipating being able to Restore System to a much older date. I have a toshiba m40 m45 in the states jm And there are Restore Points since. Thanks for you help Mark.
Upon unchecking this my drive went back to normal.
Now it rarely detects the DVD Ram drive! That implies trial and error.
