GBH, Jan 3, Discussion in ‘Printers’ started by Don, Nov 27, I don’t know a lot on this, because I’m not a tech person, but I have a small network of three laptops using a print server. It’s plugged into that HP JetDirect thing – nothing had changed in terms of hardware, except the main print server, due to the other one failing. Ask yourself this question, where are the printer drivers for this software? I appreciate any ideas and help provided.

I’m all out of ideas with how to fix this, please, anybody that can share any ideas, I’m very grateful. The part I thought that was tricky in setting up the box to access the print server was that the jet direct port is configures as local and not network on the first dialog box. All three laptops have the network software for the printers so they can print.
HP Download and Install Assistant makes it easy to download and jetdirech your software. I even 17×0 to install the DLC protocol on a computer, and nothing works. This was helpful 0. Not sure which drivers to choose?

If anybody’s had any success in getting the JB version of the X working in XP, would you be so kind as to point me in the right direction? However, we later had a similar problem with another network printer that installed and configured ok but wouldn’t print.

Parallel port connects printer to print server. When you say “can’t print”, can you elaborate– are jobs sitting in the Windows print queue or are they disappearing from the Windows queue? As I understood you description you are using the parallel port?
Evan Anderson k 14 Did you try connecting to the built in webserver and check the configuration settings of the Jetdirect? I don’t know how yours was set up but we used static addressing rather DHCP. I can’t believe he pulled it off.
Don, Nov 28, I thought it may be the printer that may have coincidentally died on the same day as the server failure, so I plugged it directly into my laptop via usb, and printed fine.
Asia Pacific and Oceania. What I found with their drivers is that they want to talk directly to the hardware port on the local machine. I don’t see my operating system. On 27 Nov Thanks for the reply! Thanks, but no luck there – it’s actually on the Port Settings page, and “Enable Bidirectional” unselected and is greyed out. We were unable to find any drivers for your product.
